Editorial Policy
Last updated: October 2026
BeginnerBudget is an educational personal finance publication for beginners in the United Kingdom and the United States. This policy explains how we create, review, and maintain our content.
Our mission
We publish clear, practical, beginner-friendly guides on budgeting, saving, money apps, living costs, and personal finance. Our goal is to help readers make better money decisions — not to sell financial products.
How we research
- Official sources first: for UK topics we prioritise official UK sources (such as ONS, Ofgem, GOV.UK); for US topics we prioritise official US sources (such as the Bureau of Labor Statistics and federal agencies).
- No invented figures: we never fabricate interest rates, fees, tax thresholds, salaries, rents, or government benefits. Figures are dated and sourced.
- Country separation: we never mix UK and US tax rules, currencies, financial regulations, or eligibility criteria. Every guide clearly states which country it applies to.
- Dated information: time-sensitive figures carry their reference period, and we update guides when verified changes occur.
Originality
Every article is written originally for BeginnerBudget. We do not copy content from other websites, and we do not publish AI-generated pages without human review, fact-checking, and original research added.
Education, not advice
Our content is educational information only. It is not personalised financial, tax, legal, or investment advice. Readers with specific situations should consult a qualified professional. See our Financial Disclaimer.
Advertising and independence
Our guides are written independently of advertisers. If we ever display advertising, it will be clearly distinguishable from editorial content, and it will never influence what we write.
Corrections
When we make a mistake, we correct it promptly and transparently. See our Corrections Policy.
